Campaigns to support Chalantika

Ganga Expedition

The Ganga Expedition with Olympic silver medallist and multiple water slalom world champion Vavřinec "Vávra" Hradilek was one of the most adventurous campaigns of 2022. In a borrowed kayak, Vávra paddled 121 km down the holy river for 121 children from the Čalantika slum and, with the help of donors, "paddled" a total of CZK 302,093.

Cameraman Martin Vrbický made a documentary of the whole expedition. A shortened version of the documentary was broadcast by Czech Television in the programme Objektiv. You can watch the full version below. Read more about the campaign on the Ganga Expedition website.

BanglaKids movie

The film introduces the general public to the lives of people in Bangladesh who face various problems on a daily basis: poverty, slum life, poor working conditions, and child marriage. Most of the problems stem from a lack of education, which prevents people from leaving the vicious circle of poverty. The movie was created by Veronika Šubrtová alias Weef, a Czech travel blogger. The movie is available on YouTube with English subtitles.

Bangla-Run!

In March 2019, Tomáš Poláček, an adventurer and journalist for Reporter magazine, decided to cross over Bangladesh. If you know him, you know that Tomáš already had some crazy experiences from hitchhiking around the world. But this one was unique. His run helped 92 children from the slum of Chalantika. Thanks to his challenge, he managed to raise CZK 206,260 for Chalantika children!

Good-Scooter

Traveller and adventurer Marek Jelínek has covered 7850 km on a scooter across Asia. His seven-month journey from India to Singapore took him through Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia. In Bangladesh, he met with children from the BanglaKids and Chalantika programmes, whose education is supported by the proceeds of the Dobroběžka project.

We, the Children of Slum – book

The book We, the Children of  Slum was created in 2017 following the visit of a "Photographer without Talent" in Bangladesh. The poor conditions in which local children and people live, the poverty, and the obstacles that prevent local children from completing basic education, have motivated him to testify about what he has experienced here. He has taken over 150 impressive photographs that capture everyday life in the slum - the country with the highest population density in the world.

Pio Squad for Chalantika

In November 2014, members of the band PIO Squad, Efko, Eurodel, De Puta Madre, DJ J-Kid and Ruda went to Dhaka, one of the most populated cities in the world. They created video clip. The music video itself were created while meeting people, visiting slums and the Chalantika center, evening school or children's workshops. More about the campaign
